👋 Hey Team,
Trevor Pang just called out something we see daily in our Trigify.io community.
Most people are using Clay & Trigify completely wrong.
Here's the scene: You spot someone engaging with a competitor's post using Trigify. So you message them saying, "Hey, I saw you liked with [X's] post…"
Stop. Right. There.
Trevor nails it: "Nobody remembers what they engaged with. I engage with 100+ posts every week. Do you think I remember that one specific post from 2 weeks ago?"
Even if they're your perfect prospect, that opener kills the conversation before it starts.
The fix is brilliantly simple:
Skip the engagement mention entirely. Jump straight into the value you can provide.
The engagement data isn't your opener, it's your targeting intel.
No awkward "I saw you liked..." required.
What I’d recommend
A relevant case study. A free tool. A lead magnet that solves their exact problem. Even a personalised video will set you apart and not make you seem like a stalker.

“Hey [X], I noticed you’re interested in [X topic area], I spent the past few days putting together [X tool, lead magnet, video] that could help you. Let me know if you’d like me to send it through.
You’d should also checkout [X Linkedin influencer they engaged with] they have some awesome content around this.”
